Chilocco Indian School (Oklahoma), Collection, 1963-1996

This collection in a small box includes the original Chilocco Indian Boarding School’s student rosters for the years 1968-1975. It provides such information as student names, grade level, sex, birth date, tribe, name of guardian or parent, community address, and agency. Also includes a 1963 Baccalaureate and Commencement Program, news clippings concerning the history of the school, and a list of former school employees. The Chilocco Indian Boarding School in Chilocco, Oklahoma closed its doors in 1980 after 96 years of providing service in vocational education and training to Native Americans from across the U. S. Not only did the campus provide buildings with class rooms but also dormitories for boys and girls. Additional sources include: Chilocco Indian Agricultural School Yearbooks, 1957-1971 and Chilocco Indian School Journal, Vol. 58, 1958-1959. This collection can be access at the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library during opening hours.
