Reference Files
The Southwest Collection Reference Files contain over 14,000 folders of information about West Texas (Lubbock and the South Plains in particular), Texas Tech, the Greater Southwest in general (Northern Mexico through the terminus of cattle drives in Alberta and Saskatchewan, the Mississippi River to California). The files cover topics such as ranching, farming, oil, ethnic heritage, creative arts, individual towns and counties in Texas, and a wide assortment of other subjects including the archives of Texas Tech University.
Materials in the files include newspaper clippings, obituaries and genealogies, brochures, programs, tourist/travel information, biographies, inventories to Southwest Collection microfilm and manuscript collections, oral history abstracts, and cross-references to related topics.
The Reference Department staff will make photocopies of Reference File materials for patrons at a cost of $.20 per page plus Texas State Tax. Mail orders have a $5.00 minimum charge. Thank you!
